Webinar
The webinar will explore how staff can adjust the pace and demands of care to better support residents, including how accumulated overwhelm may contribute to evening distress and sundowning.
"Can you wash your face for me?”
“Which shirt would you like to wear?”
“Good work!”
Have you found yourself saying any of these phrases (or ones just like them) to the older adults you work with?
This session will focus on understanding the impacts of different kinds of care demands on people living in residential care homes, with a special focus on care demands and people living with dementia.
We will explore the kinds of demands that staff put on residents (always with care and compassion) and we will explore the concepts of blocked trust, cumulative demand load, and low demand nursing. We will explore practical strategies to lower demands and increase trust with residents.
